Bergenia 'Silberlicht',Elephant's Ears 'Silberlicht', Bergenia SILVERLIGHT, Bergenia 'Silverlight', White Bergenia, Evergreen Perennial

Award-winning Bergenia ‘Bergenia ‘Silberlicht’ is a clump-forming evergreen perennial boasting erect clusters of white flowers, often maturing to pale pink, with prominent red centers. The charming blossoms are borne atop thick red stems in mid to late spring and rise above a rosette of large, leathery, oval leaves. Deep green in spring and summer, the handsome leaves turn purple-chocolate in fall and winter, as the temperatures drop. Low maintenance and easy to grow, this Bergenia selection is ideal in mass plantings, in containers, on banks, in front of the border, or in mixed beds.

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • Grows up to 12-18 in. tall (30-45 cm) and 18-24 in. wide (45-60 cm).
  • Easily grown in humus-rich, moist, well-drained soils in sun or part shade. Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including poor soils, but dislikes hot, dry conditions.
  • Undemanding and virtually disease-free, this Bergenia is a welcomed addition to beds and borders, banks and slopes, underplanting of roses and shrubs, cottage gardens, coastal gardens or city gardens. Effective as a groundcover or edging paths and walkways.
  • Keep an eye out for slugs, snails, vine weevil, leaf spot and brown rot on rhizomes. Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Remove faded flower spikes
  • Propagate by division or root rhizomes sections in fall or spring
