Blooming early, Dianthus Radiance (Pink) is a dwarf evergreen perennial with wonderfully fragrant, large, double, crimson red flowers. Blooming from early spring through early fall (with regular deadheading), the blossoms are carried on non-flopping stems above a low mound of narrow, silver-blue leaves. Easy to grow, this compact Garden Pink is an excellent addition to window boxes, baskets or planters.

Radiance belongs to the Early Bird Series of Garden Pinks from Whetman Pinks, which are noted for their earliness of flowering, and compact habit.

  • Grows up to 4-6 in. tall and wide (10-15 cm).
  • Prefers full sun and enjoys neutral to alkaline, well-drained soils. Prefers a soil enriched with well-rotted manure or garden compost and an application of a balanced fertilizer in spring.
  • Extremely versatile, this Dianthus is ideal for beds and borders, garden edging, rock gardens, cottage gardens or containers.
  • Attracts bees and butterflies, but is ignored by deer.
  • Keep an eye out for slugs, aphids, rust.
  • Deadhead to prolong flowering. 
  • Propagate by softwood cuttings of non-flowering shoots in summer.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
