Eriophyllum confertiflorum (Golden Yarrow) is a compact upright annual, perennial, or sub-shrub forming a mound of very finely divided, gray-green leaves. Blooming freely from mid-spring to late summer, brilliant golden-yellow flowers are borne in clusters of up to 30 flower heads atop erect woolly stems. Providing months of bright color in the landscape, they attract bees and butterflies. Easy to grow and low care, Golden Yarrow can be used in dry borders, native meadows with grasses, and low perennials.

  • Grows up to 18-24 in. tall and wide (45-60 cm).
  • Prefers full sun and enjoys dry to medium, well-drained soils. Needs very little water once established. Drought tolerant.
  • Golden Yarrow is a favorite of butterflies but is ignored by deer.
  • It is a welcomed addition to beds and borders, naturalized areas or Mediterranean gardens. Best in groups or massed.
  • No serious pest or disease issues.
  • Cut back to 3-4 in. (7-10 cm) after flowering to maintain a compact habit. Propagate by seed.
  • Native to California and Baja California.
