Lebanese Fritillary
Native to southern Turkey, Fritillaria elwesii (Lebanese Fritillary) is a bulbous perennial with nodding, pale green, broadly bell-shaped flowers, streaked with rich maroon, that sweep out to flaring edges. Blooming in late winter to mid-spring, the eye-catching flowers display occasional hints of gold in the throat. Borne on thin stems, they are complimented by narrowly, lance-shaped, green leaves. A vigorous grower, this graceful Fritillaria species is suitable for sunny borders or rock gardens. Visually ideal for spring containers too where the subtle charm of the dangling flowers can be appreciated up close.
