Highly popular, Juniperus communis 'Hibernica' (Irish Juniper) is a large, pillar-shaped evergreen shrub forming a splendid exclamation point in the landscape. Its dense and compact erect branches bear short, prickly, pale green needles adorned with a silver band, creating a lovely blue-green effect. They grow upwards and do not bend under a heavy snowfall. Introduced in 1838, this heirloom cultivar is ideal for providing year-round structure. Becoming broader and conical with age, it makes a wonderful specimen plant, adds accent vertical lines to the landscape. Perfect for hedges and windbreaks.
