Creeping Juniper 'Golden Carpet'


Providing a bright splash of color all year round, Juniperus horizontalis 'Golden Carpet' (Creeping Juniper) is a low, spreading evergreen shrub with brilliant golden foliage that does not burn in full sun. In winter, the foliage turns deep gold and salmon-orange with green undertones. Slow-growing, 4-6 in. per year (10-15 cm), this Creeping Juniper makes a wonderful specimen plant, and groundcover and looks terrific when cascading over walls. A marvelous addition for rocky soils and hot, dry garden spots.

  • Grows up to 4 in. tall (10 cm) and 4 ft. wide (120 cm) after 10 years.
  • A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates a wide range of soils including dry soils or poor soils but prefers sandy soils. Drought tolerant once established. Intolerant of wet soils.
  • Perfect as a specimen plant or ground cover. Great for rock gardens, foundation plantings, banks, and slopes for erosion control.
  • Low maintenance, no pruning required.
  • Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings
  • Native to Alaska, Canada, and the northern U.S.
