Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet' (Flaky Juniper) is a prostrate, evergreen shrub with horizontal sprays of attractive, silver-blue, needle-like foliage changing to gray-green in winter. Fast growing, this low-growing Juniper makes a handsome groundcover and looks terrific in the rock garden. It creates a stunning and very classy look in the landscape.

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society for its noteworthy qualities
  • Grows up to 6-12 in. tall (15-30 cm) and 4-5 ft. wide (120-150 cm).
  • A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates a wide range of soils including poor soils, dry soils and sandy soils. Somewhat intolerant of hot and humid growing conditions. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Perfect as a specimen shrub, foundation plant, for the rock garden or massed to form a bushy groundcover.
  • Low maintenance, no pruning required.
  • Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings
  • Native from Afghanistan to China and Taiwan.
