Sweetly aromatic, Leptosiphon nuttallii ssp. nuttallii (Nuttall's Linanthus) is a clump-forming perennial forming a round mound of erect stems clad with a distinctive whorled foliage. The leaves are divided into usually five very narrow, needlelike lobes. Terminal clusters of 2-5 dainty white or cream flowers, 1 in. across (2.5 cm), adorned with a yellow throat bloom profusely from summer to fall. Native to much of western North America, this fragrant phlox relative is easy to grow, drought tolerant and requires little care. A beautiful accent plant for the xeriscape garden that can be used as a ground cover.
