Mangave 'Kaleidoscope', Kaleidoscope Mangave, Mad About Mangave, Agave, Manfreda, Succulent Perennial, Evergreen Perennial

Noted for its brightly colored leaves, Mangave ‘Kaleidoscope’ is a tender perennial succulent boasting a striking evergreen rosette of long, arching, lance-shaped, deep green leaves covered with bright rosy red dots and adorned with creamy-yellow margins. The margins are lined with a thin rosy red edge, creating a kaleidoscope effect. A striking beauty which is particularly stunning in full sun when the margins glow nearly orange due to the rosy red lining. Mature plants flower (but they are not monocarpic and do not die like their agave parents) with tall 6-7 ft (180-210 cm) vertical spikes of lightly fragrant green flowers in summer. Easy to grow and undemanding, this Mangave makes a dramatic focal point or accent in the sunny border and can be used in decorative pots.

  • Grows up to 20-24 in. tall (50-60 cm) and 32-36 in. wide (80-90 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in dry to average, well-drained soils. In summer when the plant is actively growing, provide supplemental watering and half-strength fertilizer. Keep it dry in winter. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Great for beds and borders, rock gardens, succulent gardens or Mediterranean gardens. Ideal as an accent plant in sunny borders or in decorative containers.
  • Deer and rabbit resistant

Mangave is a cross between the genus Manfreda and Agave. These rare hybrids combine the best of both worlds: the better growth rate and the interesting patterns of Manfreda, and the habit and refinement of Agave.
