Regarded by many as one of the best of the golden white pines, Pinus strobus ‘Louie’ (Eastern White Pine) is an evergreen conifer of broad upright pyramidal habit covered with soft, fine, attractive golden foliage. The long and thin needles remain brightly colored throughout the year. Once established, the needles will not scorch in full sun, ensuring the best color in the landscape. A moderately fast grower, over 8-10 in. per year (20-25 cm), this elegant White Pine makes a wonderful specimen plant.

  • Grows up to 20 ft. tall (600 cm) and 15 ft. wide (450 cm) at maturity.
  • Performs best in full sun in medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions.
  • Easy to grow, easy to care for and rarely browsed by deer.
  • In order to keep this plant tight and compact, it must be candle-pruned each spring and aesthetically pruned throughout the season.
  • Native to Eastern North America.
