Sesleria ‘Greenlee’ (Greenlee Moor Grass)

Greenlee Moor Grass
Sesleria 'Greenlee', Greenlee Moor Grass, Evergreen Grass, Drought tolerant Grass

Sesleria ‘Greenlee’ (Greenlee Moor Grass) is a densely tufted evergreen perennial grass forming a compact clump of rich blue-green, linear leaves. In spring or early summer, pretty pale purple flower spikes rise well above the foliage. They mature into purplish brown seed heads. Easy to grow, cold-hardy, and tolerant of alkaline soils, Greenlee Moor Grass is highly versatile in the garden. It can be used as single specimens in small gardens and perennial borders or as a dependable ground cover in larger landscapes. It is reported to be a hybrid between Sesleria autumnalis and Sesleria caerulea.

  • Grows up to 8-12 in. tall and wide (20-30 cm). Rarely reseeds in the landscape
  • Performs best in full sun to light shade in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soils. Be careful not to overwater this plant. Drought tolerant once established. Somewhat intolerant of high summer heat and humidity.
  • Autumn Moor Grass is pest-free, disease-free, requires very little care, and provides year-round interest
  • The beautiful arching lines of Greenlee Moor Grass help create magnificent and elegantly mobile combinations in the landscape. It is perfect for borders where this grass will easily combine with other plants, cottage gardens, or prairie plantings. Can be used as a ground cover, for edging, or for erosion control.
  • Remove dead foliage and old flowered stems in late winter.
