Spiraea Double Play® Blue Kazoo®, Spirea Double Play® Blue Kazoo®, Double Play Blue Kazoo Spirea, Blue Spirea, Pink Flowers

Noted for its extraordinary foliage, Spiraea Double Play® Blue Kazoo® (Spirea) is a bushy deciduous shrub with cool blue-green leaves tinged with bronze when emerging in spring and turning attractive red shades in fall. In summer, very large pristine white flower clusters grace the tips of the branches. Easy care, this shrub is perfect for foundation and mass plantings. Great as a low hedge too!

  • Grows up to 2-3 ft. tall and wide (60-90 cm).
  • A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade as well as a wide range of soil conditions.
  • Perfect choice for borders, foundation plantings, cottage gardens, and city gardens.
  • Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds but is ignored by deer.
  • Virtually pest and disease free.
  • Very little maintenance is needed. Apply a controlled-release fertilizer in spring. Deadhead after flowering to encourage repeat blooming.
  • Flowers on new wood, so prune in late winter to early spring if needed. If overgrown, can be renovated by cutting back hard immediately after flowering.
  • Propagate by softwood cuttings in summer or by division in autumn or spring
