A Fragrant Path

Fragrant path ideas, Path ideas, Nepeta racemosa, Persian Catmint, English Roses, low maintenance path ideas, Golden Rose Walk, National Trust

A very pleasant path to get inspired with. Providing months of fragrance and color, while being trouble-free and moderately low maintenance, this beautiful path could be yours. To replicate it, you will need 3 ingredients: the attractive spreading clumps of Persian Catmint (Nepeta racemosa) with their massive purple-blue blooms held above a strongly aromatic foliage; the showy rosettes of the velvety, silvery leaves of the Lamb’s Ears (Stachys byzantina); and the fabulous golden blossoms of incredibly fragrant English Roses.
We list 3 different varieties of English Roses, all bred by David Austin, that would be perfectly suited to such design.

The above Golden Rose Walk at Chartwell was created in 1958 for Winston & Mrs Churchill to commemorate their Golden Wedding. Chartwell is a property of National Trust (www.nationaltrust.org.uk).
