Ternstroemia gymnanthera Juliet® (Cleyera) is an upright to rounded, evergreen shrub with a lustrous foliage of oval leaves, whorled at the branch tips. Emerging bronze to reddish, the leaves are beautifully variegated with creamy-white. In summer, inconspicuous, pendent, white flowers are borne from the leaf axils. Grown for its growth habit and tiered branches with variegated, evergreen leaves, Juliet® Cleyera requires very little care, is pest and disease resistant, and adds year-round interest. It is perfect as an accent or used as a hedge, in containers or mass plantings.

  • Grows up to 8-10 ft. tall (240-300 cm) and 5-6 ft. wide (150-180 cm).
  • A full sun to part shade lover, this plant is easily grown in rich, neutral to acidic, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Does not tolerate poorly drained soils. Tolerates full sun in cool-summer climates. Fertilize in early spring.
  • Perfect as a specimen plant, foundation plantings, hedges or for containers.
  • No serious pest or disease issues.
