Veronica prostrata ‘Aztec Gold’ (Prostrate Speedwell) is a fast-growing perennial forming a compact mat of brilliant golden leaves, becoming chartreuse in partial shade. The foliage contrasts nicely with the short, erect racemes of rich blue flowers in late spring to early summer. This is a great plant for mixed containers, rock gardens, hanging baskets, cascading over walls or as a groundcover. Long-lived, Prostrate Speedwell can withstand significant abuse and persist for many years if properly sited.

  • Grows up to 3-8 in. high (7-20 cm) and 18 in. wide (45 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun to part shade, in poor to moderately fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils.
  • Perfect choice for city gardens, cottage gardens, rock gardens, edging, containers or as a groundcover.
  • Easy to grow, this Speedwell requires very little care and is fairly pest and disease-free (some susceptibility to powdery mildews and downy mildews). Deer resistant.
  • Plants may be sheared after flowering to promote new foliage growth.
  • Veronica prostrata is native to Europe.
