Watsonia tabularis (Table Mountain Watsonia)

Table Mountain Watsonia

Watsonia tabularis, Table Mountain, Salmon Flowers

Watsonia tabularis (Table Mountain Watsonia) is a cormous evergreen perennial with upright fans of sword-shaped leaves and bright salmon-pink flowers. Blooming in late spring to mid-summer, eye-catching wands of 20-30 trumpet-shaped flowers rise atop branched, dark purplish stems. Table Mountain Watsonia does not die back at the end of the growing season. As the outer leaves die off, they can be cut off to keep the plant looking good-looking. A lovely garden subject that needs little care. Spectacular in mass plantings in borders, rockeries, water-wise gardens or grown in large containers.

  • Typically grows up to 4-5 ft. tall (120-150 cm).
  • Thrives in sandy, acidic to neutral, well-drained soils in full sun.
  • Fairly pest and disease free.
  • Propagate Watsonia tabularis by seed or lift and divide the corms.
  • Native to South Africa.
