A Fragrant and Colorful Summer Border Idea

Lavender Hedges, Lavender Paths, Plant Combinations, Summer Borders

This Mediterranean climate border is almost overwhelming in its profusion of colors, shapes and textures. Gracefully sprawling over the gravel path, the delightfully fragrant purple spikes of Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote' (English Lavender) interact brightly with the many spires of hooded, buttery-yellow flowers of Phlomis russeliana (Jerusalem Sage), the fiery scarlet blooms of Crocosmia 'Lucifer' (Montbretia), and the delicate purple Allium sphaerocephalon (Drumstick Allium).

The billowing carpet of lime-green Euphorbia cyparissias 'Fens Ruby' (Cypress Spurge) and silver Stachys byzantina (Lamb's Ears) contrast with the upright steel-blue flowerheads of Eryngium x zabelii 'Jos Eijking' (Sea Holly) and the tan-colored Deschampsia cespitosa (Tufted Hair Grass).

Isn't this path a real invitation for a leisurely stroll through it? All plants are deer and drought resistant. Enjoy!
