Color your walls or fences with plants! With its rich purple blooms, Clematis ‘The President’ is a favorite among many gardeners, especially with repeat-flowering climbing Roses. We suggest two lovely roses to create this lovely combination: Rose ‘Shropshire Lad’ or Rose ‘James Galway’. Their scent will hang beautifully in the air! Enjoy!

Climbing roses and clematis are perfect companions. They happily share the same arch or trellis, both reaching for the sun. They have the same natural needs, require the same growing conditions, and benefit from the same fertilizers. They are often of similar sizes with the result that neither swamps the other. They also complement one another. While the fragrance is rare in Large Flowered clematis, it is fairly common in roses. Combined, they often look many times more beautiful than on a standalone basis.
