Begonia x intermedia 'Bertinii'

Begonia Tuberhybrida 'Bertinii', Begonia 'Bertinii', Tuberous Begonia

Bushy, upright growing with attractive, hanging stems, Begonia x intermedia 'Bertinii' (Tuberous Begonias) is a fabulous, vibrant orange, single-flowered compact variety. A favorite among the shade loving plants, its abundant blossoms will add bright notes of summer color to your beds, borders or to your containers and hanging baskets.

  • Enjoying continuous blooms from late spring to frost, Begonia bertinii typically grows up to 18-24 in. tall (45-60 cm).
  • Prefers fertile, well-drained, neutral to acid soil in partial shade. Will tolerate sun except in very hot conditions. Provide good air circulation and protect your Begonia from strong winds!
  • Ridiculously easy to grow, deer and rabbit resistant and care-free!
  • Plant your Begonias in spring after the last threat of night frost, approximately 12 in. apart (30 cm) and slightly below the soil line (they rot easily when planted too deep). Many people start up begonias indoors 4 - 6 weeks before planting them outdoors to get a "jump" on the season and produce earlier blooms.
  • Begonias are not winter hardy. In cooler areas than zones 9-11, dig up the tubers before the first frost and store them dormant in a cool dry place over winter.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
