Tatarian Dogwood 'Aurea', Red-Barked Dogwood 'Aurea', Cornus alba f. aurea sibirica
Award-winning Cornus alba ‘Aurea’ (Tatarian Dogwood) is a medium-sized, suckering, deciduous shrub forming a thicket of vibrant, ruby-red stems. Often numerous, they radiate beautifully from the base of the shrub. Flat-topped clusters of tiny white flowers appear in late spring and sometimes sporadically flower in summer. While not especially showy, they attract butterflies and pollinators and give way to clusters of white berries that birds greedily devour in midsummer. The summer foliage consists of vibrant gold-green, ovate leaves. Prized for its stunning golden foliage, attractive berries, and vivid red stems, this Tatarian Dogwood is a spectacular addition to the garden for most seasons.
