Eucalyptus dalrympleana (Mountain Gum)

Mountain Gum, Broad-Leaved Kindling Bark, Broad-Leaved Ribbon Gum


Fast-growing and stately, Eucalyptus dalrympleana (Mountain Gum) is a large evergreen tree of upright, columnar habit adorned with a straight, smooth, creamy white trunk. Rich with a fresh Eucalyptus scent with hints of cinnamon, the aromatic foliage is ovate, copper-tinged when young, becoming blue-green when juvenile, changing to long, curved, drooping, blue-green when adult. In summer, clusters of white flowers are borne amongst the foliage. Long-lived, this Eucalyptus requires ample growing space and makes a lovely specimen tree.

  • Grows up to 50-70 ft. tall (15-21 m) and 15-25 ft. wide (4-8 m).
  • Performs best in full sun or light shade in average to moderately fertile, slightly acidic, dry to medium soil. Tolerates alkaline soils.
  • Easy to grow, easy to care for.
  • Watch for eucalyptus sucker, silver leaf, and oedema.
  • Propagate by seed.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
