Native to the western Himalayas and Asia Minor, Fritillaria uva-vulpis (Fox’s Grape Fritillary) is a bulbous perennial with dusty purple to dark mahogany, bell-shaped flowers, adorned with golden tips and interiors in mid to late spring. The delicate flowers are complimented by lance-shaped, grass-like bluish-green leaves. Great in containers where the subtle grace of the flowers and their elegant linear leaves can be appreciated up close.

  • Grows up to 8-12 in. tall (20-30 cm). Fox’s Grape Fritillary naturalizes well and will come back year after year with increasing vigor.
  • Plant in fall in a full sun to part shade area in organically rich, moist but well-drained soil for best results.
  • Charming in groupings in borders, containers, rock gardens or naturalized areas.
  • Deer and rabbit resistant.
