Witch Hazel 'Diane', Chinese Witch Hazel 'Diane', Hamamelis x intermedia 'New Red'
Prized for its profusion of sweetly fragrant flowers and its lovely fall colors, Hamamelis x intermedia 'Diane' (Witch Hazel) is a very eye-catching winter-flowering shrub. Hardy, this medium to large, vase-shaped, deciduous shrub features dense clusters of scented, copper-red flowers in mid- to late winter. Each flower consists of 4 ribbon-like, crinkled, strap-shaped petals. The broad, oval, green leaves warm up to attractive shades of yellow, orange and red in fall.
- This shrub has a spreading habit and grows up to 8-12 ft. tall (240-360 cm) and 10-15 ft. wide (300-450 cm)
- A full sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Prefers organically rich, moist, acidic soils. Some tolerance for clay soils. Best flowering in full sun.
