Drawing attention, award-winning Hosta undulata var. undulata (Wavy Plantain Lily) is a clump-forming perennial forming a pretty mound of lance-shaped, intriguingly twisted, deeply channeled, mid-green leaves adorned with creamy-white markings. The leaves are thin but leathery and nicely wavy-margined. Racemes of funnel-shaped, mauve flowers appear in early to mid-summer on arching scapes rising above the foliage mound to 32 in. tall (80 cm). A terrific Hosta to brighten up shady borders and containers.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 2-3 ft . tall (60-90 cm) and 18 in. wide (45 cm).
  • Performs best in part shade to full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
  • Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in bed and borders, city gardens, and cottage gardens. Great for edging or underplanting shrubs and roses.
  • Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
  • Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant’s growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
  • Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
