Hymenocallis littoralis (Beach Spider Lily)

Beach Spider Lily, Spider Lily, Peruvian Daffodil

Vigorous, Hymenocallis littoralis (Beach Spider Lily) is a tender bulbous perennial boasting showy umbels of 4-6 large, vanilla scented, pure white flowers from mid summer to late fall. The flowers open up to look like giant white spiders, each blossom featuring a central cup and 6 incredibly long, slender petals. The flowers rise atop leafless stalks, well above the evergreen foliage of fleshy, crowded, glossy dark green leaves. Adding flare to borders and containers, Beach Spider Lily is also perfect for coastal sites. Plant in drifts for a striking effect.

  • Grows up to 24-30 in. tall and wide (60-75 cm) and 12 in. wide (30 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun to part shade in moist, organically rich, well-drained soil.
  • Reliable, easy to grow, generally disease and pest free.
  • Native to Latin America.
