Award-winning Hypericum x hidcoteense 'Hidcote' (St. John's Wort) is a dense, bushy, evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub boasting an abundance of large, golden-yellow flowers, 3 in. wide (7.5 cm), from early summer to early fall. Borne on reddish, twiggy stems, they are produced in great quantities and blanket the plant. Each saucer-shaped flower presents 5 petals surrounding a prominent tuft of golden stamens and orange anthers. The foliage of narrowly ovate, rich blue-green leaves provides a lovely backdrop for the bright golden blossoms. This deer-resistant little shrub is perfect for adding bright summer color to the garden. One of the most popular and reliable Hypericums.
- Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
- Grows up to 3-5 ft. tall and wide (90-150 cm). This plant may grow only 2 ft. tall (60 cm) in colder climates where it usually is cut or naturally dies to the ground in winter.
