Tall Bearded Iris 'Blue Rhythm', Iris Germanica 'Blue Rhythm', Midseason Irises
Magnificent and delightfully scented, award-winner Iris ‘Blue Rhythm’ features very large cornflower blue flowers delicately softened with a silvery overtone. Arched and domed, the standards sit on broad, semi-flaring falls adorned with bright golden beards frosted white at their tips. Perfectly branched and prolific, this stately Tall Bearded Iris won the most prestigious award of the American Iris Society, the Dykes Medal in 1950. The lemon-scented blooms of this classic iris rise with majesty up to 36-40 inches high (90-100 cm) atop the lovely sword-shaped foliage which will continue to add interest to the landscape after flowering is over. A midseason bloomer, ‘Blue Rhythm’ looks beautiful next to silver-leaved perennials such as lavender and Russian sage.
Bearded irises are classified by height and flower size into 6 groups. Since these groups bloom at slightly different times, combining specimens from different groups will extend your color display for a couple of weeks.
