Award-winner Dutch Iris 'Professor Blaauw' features elegant and showy deep violet-blue flowers, about 3-4 inches wide (8-10 cm), with bright yellow central markings on their falls. The flower stalks are sturdy and surrounded by sword-like leaves.
- This iris was granted the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society in 1994.
- Flowering occurs in late spring to early summer for 2-3 weeks.
- Generally growing up to 22-26 inches tall (55-65 cm), it makes excellent cut flowers!
- Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates some afternoon shade.
- Lovely in beds and borders. Spectacular when planted in groups (at least 20 bulbs)!
