Common Juniper 'Compressa', Juniper 'Compressa', Pencil Point Juniper
Juniperus communis ‘Compressa’ (Common Juniper) is a dwarf, upright, cone-shaped, evergreen shrub forming a splendid exclamation point in the landscape. Quite prickly to the touch, the foliage of tightly packed, blue-green needles takes on copper-bronze shades in winter. Slow-growing, this columnar Juniper makes a wonderful specimen plant and is an excellent addition to the mixed border. It is equally ideal for providing year-round structure in seasonal containers.
Juniperus belongs to the Cupressaceae family, which includes popular evergreen trees such as Juniperus virginiana (Eastern Red Cedar), Thuja occidentalis (Northern White Cedar), Cupressus sempervirens (Italian Cypress), Sequoia sempervirens (Coast Redwood), and Cupressus arizonica (Arizona Cypress).
