Malus 'Centurion' is an upright, deciduous tree of columnar habit in youth, gradually spreading and rounding with age. In mid-spring, its upright branches are clothed in stunning clusters of fragrant, deep rosy-red flowers. The blossoms are followed by abundant, glossy, cherry-red fruits, 1/2 in. (1.2 cm), that mature in fall. Attractive to birds, they often do not persist into winter. The foliage emerges reddish-green in spring and retains bronze tinges throughout the growing season before turning yellow-orange in the fall. This flowering crabapple has excellent resistance to fire blight, powdery mildew, cedar-apple rust, and apple scab.
