Incredibly vigorous, Petunia ‘Tidal Wave Cherry’ is a mounding or spreading annual or perennial plant boasting masses of bright cherry flowers, 2 in. across (5 cm), from late spring to the first frosts. Thanks to its spreading habit, this fast grower can wind around a fence to create an attractive flowering hedge, crawl along and over walls, make a gorgeous ground cover or fill with color a large container as a patio showpiece. Unlike other petunias, gardeners can decide the height of the mature plant. This Petunia resists lodging and will not fall open and expose a bare center like other petunias. Noted for its outstandingly long flowering season and excellent rain resistance, Tidal Wave is heat tolerant, attracts hummingbirds, and is terrific for spreading glamor in any garden.

  • Growth habit is based on how closely plants are placed – the closer the spacing, the taller the plants. Spaced a minimum of 12 in. apart (30 cm), Tidal Wave petunias form a dense, mounded hedge up to 16-22 in. tall (40-55 cm). Grown in a restricted space with support, they grow an extra 2 to 3 ft. upward (60-90 cm), like a vine. Spaced up to 24 in. apart (60 cm) in the garden, the plants make a floriferous ground cover, spreading up to 5 ft. across (150 cm) per plant.
  • Extremely easy to grow, Petunias thrive in full sun to part shade in moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil.
  • Petunias are perennials in hardiness zone 11 but treated as annuals in cooler areas.
  • Deadhead as required to remove dead flowers.
  • Keep an eye out for aphids, slugs, snails, gray molds, or foot rot.
  • Propagate by seed.
