Incredibly popular, Picea glauca var. albertiana ‘Conica’ (White Spruce) is a dense, cone-shaped, dwarf evergreen conifer with perfectly uniform branching. Emerging light green, its fine needles turn to blue-green as they mature. A slow grower, 4 in. per year (10 cm), this Dwarf White Spruce makes a glorious accent in a mixed border and is perfect in any garden settings. Great for topiaries too.

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 3-4 ft. tall (90-120 cm) and 18 in. wide (45 cm) after 10 years. Will reach 10-13 ft. tall (300-400 cm) and 7-10 ft. wide (210-300 cm) after several decades.
  • Performs best in full sun in slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade. Generally prefers cool climates and will struggle in hot and humid climate areas. Provide good air circulation.
  • Perfect as a distinctive specimen plant in the sunny border, cottage gardens, rock gardens or containers.
  • Watch for adelgids, aphids, conifer red spider mite and honey fungus. Easy to grow and easy to care for.
  • No pruning required.
  • Propagate by grafting in winter, or semi-hardwood cuttings in summer.
