Korean Burnet, Korean Mountain Burnet, Lilac Squirrel
Sanguisorba hakusanensis (Korean Burnet) is a charming herbaceous perennial forming a deciduous rosette of blue-green, deeply cut, wavy-edged leaves. From midsummer to early fall, the basal rosette is topped with 3 ft. tall (90 cm) flower wands adorned with long, fluffy, pendulous pinkish-purple squirrel tails. Korean Burnet makes a statement in the landscape by bringing movement to the garden and nodding with the wind. It can provide a backdrop to a herbaceous border or as a specimen to draw the eye and amaze the onlooker.
