Adding a gentle transparent effect in the border, Sanguisorba officinalis ‘Pink Tanna’ (Great Burnet) is a clump-forming, herbaceous perennial forming a neat mound of gray-green leaves, each finely toothed and divided into oblong leaflets. Deep pink bottlebrush flowers, adorned with pale pink stamens, appear atop slender stems from midsummer through fall. They weave through other perennials, adding color and life to the late summer garden. A gorgeous see-through plant that is perfect for adding vertical interest and movement to sunny borders.

  • Grows up to 36 in. high (90 cm) and 18-24 in. across (45-60 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soils that do not dry out. Give it afternoon shade in hot summer climates.
  • Makes a lovely accent in beds and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens, or prairie plantings. Great for cutting.
  • Virtually pest and disease free. Keep an eye out for slugs. Deer resistant.
  • Propagate by division in spring.
