Resembling Veronica, Teucrium hircanicum (Iranian Germander) is a showy perennial boasting dozens of upright lavender flower spikes in mid to late summer, over a lush mound of fragrant, sage-like, green leaves. Flowers attract butterflies and are excellent for cutting.

  • Grows up to 24-30 in. tall (60-75 cm) and 12-24 in. wide (30-60 cm). Teucrium hircanicum will self-seeding freely in the garden.
  • Easily grown in well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Appreciates afternoon shade in hot summer areas. Drought-tolerant once established but does best when watered regularly in summer.
  • Great for beds and borders, cottage gardens or containers.
  • Virtually disease and pest free. Keep an eye out for mildew, leaf spot, rust and mites. Deer resistant.
  • Propagate by seed, cuttings or division.
  • Native to western Asia, Caucasus.
