Meadow Rue 'Splendide'

Very floriferous, Thalictrum 'Splendide' (Meadow Rue) is a robust, upright, clump-forming perennial boasting clouds of lavender mauve, nodding flowers adorned with prominent stamens. Blooming profusely from mid to late summer, the charming flowers are held on tall, burgundy, upright stems above the foliage of lacy, green leaves.

  • Thrives in humus-rich, moist soils in full sun or part shade. Intolerant of hot and humid summers. Dappled shade is preferred.
  • Fits beautifully in any beds of perennial flowers, wildflower gardens, meadows , woodland edges, or naturalized areas. Excellent background plant. Spectacular when planted in groups. Great for cutting too!
  • Easy to grow, Meadow Rue is generally pest free. Keep an eye out for powdery mildews. Deer and rabbit tolerant.
  • Cut down stems once flowering is over. Propagate by division in spring.
  • Thalictrum is a genus of perennials that are grown for their lovely foliage and the airy grace of their flowers.
  • Contact with foliage may irritate the skin.
