Weigela florida Spilled Wine® is a compact, deciduous shrub noted for its striking foliage of narrowly ovate, dark purple leaves all season long. From spring until the first frost, bright pink flowers are produced in great quantities and make for a striking contrast. Easy to grow, this flowering shrub is perfect as a focal point in the sunny border or in containers.
- Grows up to 24-36 in. tall and wide (60-90 cm).
- A full sun lover, this plant is best grown in moist, well-drained soils.
- Plant as a specimen or in small groups. Perfect for borders, foundation plantings or containers.
- Pruning is best done immediately after flowering; little pruning is needed.
- Generally disease free. Watch for leaf and bud eelworms. Seldom severely damaged by deer.
- Propagate by softwood cuttings in early summer, semi-ripe cuttings in summer or hardwood cuttings in late autumn and winter.
