European Fritillaria
Award-winning Fritillaria pontica is a bulbous perennial with small clusters of pale lime-green, broadly bell-shaped flowers, often suffused brown. Blooming in mid to late spring, the charming flowers are complimented by lance-shaped, gray-green leaves. This Fritillaria species, which ranges from Bulgaria to the mountains of Turkey, is suitable for the rock garden or the very front of the border where it will have a chance to show off. Easy to grow, it tolerates a bit of shade.
