Leucothoe fontanesiana ‘Rainbow’ (Dog Hobble) is a multi-stemmed, evergreen shrub prized for its gracefully arching red stems clad with glossy, lance-shaped leaves, 4 in. long (10 cm), marbled cream and pink. Highly ornamental, the lush foliage turns an outstanding burgundy in the fall. In spring, drooping clusters of white flowers appear below the branches. A desirable evergreen shrub that adds bold texture and drama to mixed borders. Can be grown as a beautiful hedge.

  • Grows up to 4-5 ft. tall (120-150 cm) and 5-6 ft. wide (150-180 cm).
  • This plant is easily grown in part shade to full shade in moist, acid soil.
