Boulder Raspberry, Delicious Raspberry, Rocky Mountain Raspberry, Rocky Mountain Flowering Raspberry, Showy White-Flowered Bramble, Oreobatus deliciosus
Rubus deliciosus (Delicious Raspberry) is a glorious deciduous shrub adorned with arching reddish stems bearing a lush foliage of simple, lobed, bright green leaves, 2-3 in. long (5-7 cm). The stems are thornless, unlike many other rubus species. From late spring to early summer, a massive display of fragrant white flowers, 2-3 in. (5-7 cm), can be enjoyed. Resembling single roses, they feature five bright white petals, slightly overlapping, surrounding a bouquet of short stamens topped by yellow-brown anthers. They are followed by small, dark purple-red berries, which are nicely flavored, but tend to be dry and are composed mostly of seeds. They are valuable seasonal food for birds. Rubus deliciosus is adaptable to both dry and watered gardens. Perfect for the waterwise landscape.
