Thalictrum aquilegiifolium (Meadow Rue) is favored for its lacy, refined, bluish-green foliage resembling Columbine or Maidenhair Fern and its dense panicles of pink, white or purple fluffy flowers. On display in late spring to early summer, they give way to ornamental clusters of pendulous, wing-like seeds, therefore providing an extended season of interest. Low maintenance, disease and trouble free, this bushy plant adds a marvelous accent in the landscape.

  • Clump-forming perennial which typically grows 2-3 ft. tall and wide (60-90 cm).
  • Thrives in rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun or part shade. Intolerant of hot and humid summers. Dappled shade is preferred. Keep soil moist but not soggy. Mulch in colder climates.
  • Fits beautifully in any beds, borders, cottage gardens, wildflower gardens or meadows. Great for cutting too!
  • Deer and rabbit tolerant!
  • Easily grown from seeds. Sow seeds in the fall when they are fresh. Divide in the spring.
