Low growing and durable, Veronica ‘Waterperry Blue’ (Speedwell) is a vigorous perennial forming a dense carpet of tiny, dark-veined, lavender-blue flowers borne on creeping stems from late spring to early summer. The ravishing flowers may rebloom intermittently throughout the summer. Even when not smothered with flowers, this Speedwell remains attractive thanks to its lush foliage of small, shiny, deep green leaves tinged with burgundy and copper overtones. Dense enough to suppress weeds, it is perfect for the rock garden, for edging along borders or pathways, or as a ground cover. Also, ideal for planting between flagstones.

  • Grows up to 4-5 in. tall (10-12 cm) and 12-15 in. wide (30-37 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun, in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade. Veronica benefits from consistently moist soils during the growing period but cannot tolerate wet soils during dormancy.
  • Perfect choice for borders, edging, underplanting shrubs, cottage gardens, rock gardens, or containers. Best when planted in groups.
  • Deadheading will encourage reblooming. Cut back to basal growth after flowering.
  • Easy to grow, this Speedwell requires very low care and is fairly pest and disease-free. It is resistant to rabbits and deer.
