Watsonia borbonica (Pink Watsonia) is a cormous perennial with upright fans of sword-shaped leaves and bright pink flowers. Blooming in late spring to early summer, eye-catching wands of fragrant rose-pink trumpet-shaped flowers, each about 2 in. long (5 cm), rise atop erect stems. The foliage dies back after bloom, reappearing in the fall. A lovely garden subject that needs little care. Spectacular in mass plantings in borders or grown in large containers.

  • Typically grows up to 3-5 ft. tall (90-150 cm) and 2-3 ft. wide (60-90 cm).
  • Thrives in medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Does not require much water during its summer dormancy.
  • It can withstand mild winter frost but should be lifted and stored dry during winter in cold climates.
  • Fairly pest and disease free.
  • Native to South Africa.
