Weigela florida Sonic Bloom® Ghost® is a deciduous shrub noted for its striking chartreuse foliage of narrowly ovate leaves that turn iridescent butter-yellow as the summer progresses. In spring, showy, red-pink flowers are produced in great quantities and literally cover the shrub. This plant will flower sporadically on current season's growth during the summer into fall. The trumpet-like flowers are adored by hummingbirds. Easy to grow, this flowering shrub is the perfect choice for as a specimen plant, for shrub borders or containers.
- Grows up to 4-5 ft. tall (120-150 cm) and 3-4 ft. wide (90-120 cm).
- A full sun lover, this plant is best grown in moist, well-drained soils.
- Plant as a specimen or in small groups. Perfect for borders, foundation plantings or containers.
- Pruning is best done immediately after flowering; little pruning is needed.
- Generally disease free. Watch for leaf and bud eelworms. Seldom severely damaged by deer.
- Propagate by softwood cuttings in early summer, semi-ripe cuttings in summer or hardwood cuttings in late autumn and winter.
