Crassula capitella 'Red Pagoda'

Red Pagoda Crassula, Crassula corymbulosa 'Red Pagoda'

Eye-catching, Crassula capitella 'Red Pagoda' is a branching succulent with densely stacked, fleshy, triangular chartreuse leaves adorned with bright crimson tips. Their color is brightest in winter in response to long cool nights and bright sunlight. Low-growing, this plant forms a colorful mat and can be used as a small scale groundcover. It is extremely useful in containers, or hanging baskets. Clusters of small, starry, flowers appear in summer. This crassula spreads by runners and will form small colonies.

  • Grows up to 6 in. tall (15 cm) and 18 in. wide (45 cm).
  • Thrives in well-drained soils in full sun or light shade. Best leaf coloration is obtained in sun although some shade protection from midday heat in hot climate areas would be welcomed. Irrigate only occasionally to regularly. This succulent is drought tolerant.
  • Perfect for rock gardens, containers, hanging baskets or as groundcover.
  • Deer resistant
  • Propagate by division, offsets or leaf cuttings.
  • Virtually disease free. Watch for mealybugs, vine weevil and aphids
  • Native to South Africa
