Limonium perezii (Sea Lavender)

Sea Lavender, Statice, Perez's Sea Lavender, Seafoam Statice, Marsh Rosemary

Limonium perezii, Sea Lavender, Statice, Perez's Sea Lavender, Seafoam Statice, Marsh Rosemary, Purple Flowers, Drought tolerant flowers,

Native to the Canary Islands, Limonium perezii (Sea Lavender) is a tough evergreen perennial or rounded subshrub sporting large clusters, 8 in. wide (20 cm), of tiny flowers with intense purple calyces and white corollas. They are borne on stiff branching stems, well above the foliage of long-stalked, oval to diamond-shaped, deep green leaves. Sea Lavender blooms intermittently for months and nearly year-round in frost-free coastal climates. Their dry, papery petals retain their color well, making them an excellent choice for dried arrangements. Ideal for seaside gardens or decorative containers.

  • Grows up to 2-3 ft. tall and wide (60-90 cm).
  • Easy to grow, Sea Lavender performs best in full sun in well-drained soils with occasional summer watering. Tolerates salt spray, wind, drought, and heat.
  • No serious insect or disease problems. Watch for crown root, root rot, rust, scale and nematodes.
  • A welcomed addition to Mediterranean gardens, coastal gardens or rock gardens.
  • For a neat appearance, remove old foliage before new leaves emerge. Divide clumps every 2 to 3 years in early spring.
