Limonium sinuatum, Wavyleaf Sea Lavender, Sea Lavender, Statice, Notch Leaf Marsh Rosemary, Sea Pink, Purple Flowers, Drought tolerant flowers,

One of the most popular dried flowers available, Limonium sinuatum (Statice), is an erect, short-lived perennial or biennial, often grown as an annual. It boasts dense clusters of papery, funnel-shaped flowers in summer and early fall. Borne on winged flower stems, the blossoms feature white corollas and showy calyces in shades of violet, lavender, pink, rose, orange, yellow, and white. They rise from a rosette of sinuately lobed basal leaves. Their dry, papery petals retain their color well, making them an excellent choice for fresh-cut flowers or dried arrangements. Attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, Sea lavender is a relatively easy perennial to cultivate, with few cultural needs. Statice is a good choice for coastal gardens since it is salt tolerant. Excellent for mixed borders, rock gardens, and cutting gardens too.

  • Grows up to 12-18 in. tall (30-45 cm) and 9-12 in. wide (18-30 cm).
  • Easy to grow, Statice performs best in full sun in dry to medium moisture, sandy loams, and well-drained soils. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Virtually pest and disease free. Keep an eye out for crown and root rot, and make sure you provide good air circulation. Deer resistant.
  • Cut back after flowering.
  • Propagate by seed sown in gentle heat in early spring. Germination can take as long as three weeks.
  • Native to Northern Africa, Western Asia, and Europe.
