Breathtaking, Alocasia ‘Mayan Mask’ (Elephant Ear) is a tender perennial boasting huge and brilliant, arrow-shaped, grassy green leaves that unfurl upward in a magnificent whorl, revealing their chocolate undersides. They stand upright, pointing skyward, unlike the leaves of Colocasia which droop and point toward the ground. They can reach up to 4-5 ft. (120-150 cm) in good growing conditions. This selection is very robust and durable, so it will never flop or fall. Fast-growing, easy to grow and care for, this Elephant Ear is terrific for bringing a lush tropical look to gardens or containers.

  • Grows up to 6-8 ft. high (180-240 cm) and 4-5 ft. wide (120-150 cm)
  • Performs best in sun or part shade in organically rich, moist soils. Provide a sheltered location to protect the decorative leaves from strong winds. Plants require regular watering and fertilization. Reduce watering in winter.
  • Perfect as a green houseplant, for containers or for the shade garden.
  • Watch for spider mites, scale, mealy bugs and aphids.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
