Japanese Anemone 'Splendens', Windflower 'Splendens', Anemone x Hybrida 'Splendens', Anemone hupehensis 'Splendens', Anemone japonica 'Splendens'
Grabbing the attention in the late summer or fall garden, Anemone hupehensis var. japonica ‘Splendens’ is a great performer featuring masses of single, saucer-shaped, deep pink flowers adorned with a ring of golden stamens. Persisting for weeks, the eye-catching flowers of this Japanese Anemone are gracefully carried on dark, wiry stems above mounds of divided, dark green foliage. Low care and well-behaved, this beauty is a wonderful naturalizer that is perfect for adding a splash of color to the late-season garden.
Native to China, Anemones have been cultivated in Japan for hundreds of years. Growing to 4 feet (120 cm), they produce single, semi-double or double blooms in shades of pink and white on slender, graceful stems in mid-late summer and early fall. Though they may appear delicate, these long-lived perennials can survive with minimal maintenance once they are established. Deer resistant, they are a popular choice for borders or as specimens in home gardens.
