Helichrysum Italicum, Curry Plant, Golden Eternal Flower, Everlasting, Strawflower, Immortelle, Licorice Plant, silver foliage perennial, Drought resistant plant, Mediterranean Plants, Yellow Flowers

Admired for the beauty of its foliage, bright blooms and spicy fragrance, Helichrysum italicum (Curry Plant) is a small bushy evergreen shrub featuring a particularly attractive, fine, linear, silvery foliage with curry-scented leaves. When placed along a walkway, the fragrance can be enticing. In midsummer, domed clusters of small, lemon yellow flowers are produced that are useful in dried flower arrangements since they retain their color. Helichrysum is a perfect choice for gardens that get infrequent to little watering.

Medically, Helichrysum offers powerful tissue regeneration properties, and aids in the formation of scar tissue. Historically, it was also revered as a powerful aphrodisiac for attracting a lover!

  • Grows up to 2 ft. tall (60 cm) and spreads 3 ft. (90 cm)
  • Thrives in full sun, in poor to moderately fertile, neutral to alkalinewell-drained soils. Protect from winter wet and cold, dry winds.
  • Easy to grow, this plant is drought tolerant and requires low care and low watering.
  • Fabulous for beds and borders, city gardens, coastal gardens, cottage gardens, gravel and rock gardens, Mediterranean gardens or prairie plantings
  • A natural pest repellent, bugs tend to avoid it and deer hate it.
  • Virtually pest free, but watch for powdery mildews
  • Propagate by rooting semi-hardwood cuttings of shrubby species in summer and overwinter in frost-free conditions
